What marketing professionals does the market need?

Illustration

Kateryna Zagoriy

co-founder of the Zagoriy Foundation

The biggest shortage I see is professionals who think in terms of markets rather than channels and tools. People who understand, or are willing to learn, how business economics work; who operate across product, pricing, distribution, and communications; and who can shape a company's market position

  • Most companies today devote too much effort to communications and too little to understanding their markets

Illustration

Olha Zakharova

CMO at KSE

Over my years working in media and energy, I've seen how quickly the role of marketing changes. The market is now moving toward data-driven and AI marketing, with decisions based on analytics, behavioral data, and technology

  • For example, in the media industry, algorithms, audience data, and personalization increasingly determine content and distribution. Following energy market liberalization, marketing expanded from communications into a strategic business function. This includes analyzing consumption data, developing B2B and B2C brands, and implementing complex infrastructure projects in changing markets.
Businesses increasingly need strategists who can combine marketing, technology, and business thinking: define market positioning, work with data, and understand and forecast how marketing decisions affect the growth of a company or institution

Illustration

Oleksandr Denysov

commercial Director at FC Polissya

The main challenge for marketers today is to outperform artificial intelligence. AI can analyze data faster, but creating meaning, understanding context, and making strategic decisions remain human responsibilities. Marketers therefore need to develop a new way of thinking

  • Education at KSE Business School helps develop this combination of strategy, technology, and leadership, which modern marketing requires

Illustration

Serhii Malyk

creative Director and Founder of Angry Agency

The market needs marketers who are ready to take full responsibility for marketing. They need to think beyond communications campaigns and consider the product, customer experience, pricing, distribution, sales, and financial results

  • The market needs marketers who can say, "I don't know". Their role requires them to recognize the limits of their knowledge, seek other perspectives, and focus on the decisions that matter, rather than personally managing every detail, such as editing headlines on outdoor advertisements.
Today's marketers, and tomorrow's, need to identify where a business can grow, bring together the right people, give them room to do their work, represent the brand, and lead
